At Global Axis Substrates, we believe that true success extends far beyond business growth. That is why we are immensely proud to announce our new partnership with Operation Flinders, supporting one of South Australia’s most remarkable and life-changing youth programs.

As part of this initiative, Global Axis Substrates has committed to a dedicated scholarship to support a young person participating in Operation Flinders’ Step Out Program.

Our partnership with Operation Flinders is deeply personal. During 2025, Global Axis Substrates General Manager Michael Callisto took part in the challenging City to Summit event. Thanks to great community support, he finished as the highest fundraiser, earning a special opportunity to visit Yankaninna Station, which is the home of the Operation Flinders Foundation.

“Visiting Yankaninna Station and seeing the program firsthand was honestly hard to put into words; it just blew me away,” shares Michael. 

“Being able to drive and walk across the property, visit key activity sites, hear from the dedicated volunteers, and meet some of the incredible participants right in the middle of their grueling 8-day experience gave me a whole new appreciation for what Operation Flinders does. It’s an experience that stays with you, and I am already looking forward to lacing up my shoes for the next City to Summit on September 25, 2026!” 

Operation Flinders exists to transform the lives of young people through high-impact remote outback adventure programs. Operating out in the northern Flinders Ranges, the foundation focuses on inspiring young people to find connection, purpose, and resilience.

The core of the foundation’s work involves an intensive 8-day Exercise on Yankaninna Station. During this journey, participants trek up to 100 kilometres, engage in cultural learning, master bushcraft, and challenge themselves through activities like abseiling. It is an environment designed to push personal boundaries, build self-confidence, and foster a profound sense of hope and social wellbeing. However, the journey begins well before participants hit the trail. The Step Out Program serves as a vital multi-week preparatory experience leading directly into the 8-day Exercise on Yankaninna Station.

Operation Flinders is specifically designed for some of the most vulnerable young people in South Australia; individuals who might otherwise fall through the cracks due to challenging life circumstances.

While the program offers a proven pathway to personal transformation, financial hurdles can often create immense stress for participants and their families.

By funding this placement, our goal at Global Axis Substrates is to ensure that a deserving young person does not have to worry about finding financial support, and that their family is spared any further financial strain. We hope to lift that weight off their shoulders, offering a practical solution and peace of mind so that the participant can focus entirely on their personal growth, healing, and adventure.

Over the next few months, Global Axis Substrates looks forward to finding out who the worthy recipient of the scholarship will be.
