The Global Axis Substrates team recently rolled up our sleeves alongside our friends at Y Partners for a corporate volunteering day for Foodbank SA & NT.

Before we got to work, we heard first-hand what Foodbank actually does; and the numbers hit hard.

Foodbank SA & NT supports over 152,000 people every single month across SA and NT. They partner with 1,000 charities and 600 schools across the region to make sure food reaches the people and communities who need it most.

And yet, 68% of food insecure households have at least one person in paid work.

What always fascinates us most is how Foodbank operates across the entire food and grocery supply chain. Farmers and growers, manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers, all intercepting surplus at every point and getting it to people in need. They call it the ‘surprise chain.’

As a business built on agricultural supply, that mission resonates deeply with our team at Global Axis Substrates. We work every day with the growers, producers, and suppliers who feed this country. Seeing that same paddock-to-plate supply chain repurposed to tackle food insecurity was a powerful reminder of what industry can achieve when it’s pointed at something that truly matters.
