Held over 3 days, our team loved welcoming industry partners, suppliers, and customers from all over the globe to Adelaide to discuss all things fungi at the 2022 Australian Mushroom Growers’ Association Conference.
Global Axis were proud sponsors of the Conference, which was held in Adelaide from Wednesday 26 – Friday 28 October. We loved seeing how it brought together the mushroom growing community and would like to acknowledge the efforts of the AMGA team for putting on such a brilliant event!
This year’s Conference was jam-packed with an extensive line-up of both national and international guest speakers. It also featured an innovative exhibition space, which gave us all the chance to connect with members of the community and other companies in our market.
Day 1 kicked off with close to 150 delegates visiting our customer’s Revitalize Enterprizes; Pure Mushrooms compost facility in Port Wakefield. Phil Rogers and Jaylon Rogers hosted the morning, sharing detailed information about their facility, equipment and compost processes. This was followed by a tour of SA Mushrooms where they also hosted a scrumptious lunch. This is rare that farm owners, managers and employees get the opportunity for a behind the scenes tour of other facilities, therefore was quite special. The day concluded with a terrific networking night at 2KW Bar and Restaurant hosted by Costa. What a night connecting with new and old friends over a few beverages of course.
The conference included presentations from both national and international experts in the field. This included a presentation from Roland Van Doremaele from Christiaens and Jack Lemmen from GTL who spoke about the new developments in robotics and creating more efficient harvesting systems. Our Business Manager Michael was MC for Day 2, and had the pleasure of introducing Folkert Moll of Kekkilä- BVB onto the stage. He travelled all the way from Netherlands to share BVB’s insights on casing sustainability and how the mushroom industry is contributing to a greener world. It was really exciting to hear global forecasts for the industry. The demand for growing media is set to quadruple in coming years, with the demand for peat predicted to increase 100% by 2050. I guess we will stick around then!
Other guest speakers presented on a range of topics such as food quality and safety, pest and disease management and economic updates; allowing the opportunity for attendees to hear about a wide range of topics relating to their industry.
Hosted by Sylvan, the Garden Gala held at the Adelaide Art Gallery was a lively and cheerful evening where we were able to celebrate all together as an aligned industry, all working together for a great future ahead!
Already looking forward to the next Conference – bring on 2024!
